Overview

If you wear full dentures then you know the insecure feeling you get from eating, drinking and talking. Your dentures move sideways and backwards and forwards.

However good your dentures may be, they can never be a real substitute for your own teeth.

Whilst the upper denture has a larger support surface area and relies mainly on the palate to provide some form of "suction" or "vacuum", the lower denture relies on a multitude of contributory factors such as muscle, tongue and lower lip support. At the first displacement, which is inevitable at some point, a gap opens between the gum and the denture, subsequently lifting up the denture.

Wearing dentures for a number of years causes the underlying surface, the Jawbone, to resorb, resulting in "shrinkage" of the gum, leading ultimately to illfitting and unstable dentures.
Ultra Suction™ is capable of improving both the security of wearing dentures and the pleasure of eating, drinking and talking again

How does it work?

A special profiled space is created in the inner side of your denture (suction chamber).
Two tiny Ultra Suction™ valves are then inserted into your denture, one each side.
When you wear your denture and bite firmly, the air trapped between your gum and the denture is expelled through the valves. The result: a better fit to the gum and a more stable denture, giving you a firm and secure feeling.
To remove your denture, you simply lift it up.
Ultra Suction™ can be fitted by your Prosthesist/ Dentist on either your existing dentures, or at the same time as the making of your new set of dentures.

Is it right for me?

In general terms, if you wear full dentures, Ultra Suction™ should improve considerably the stability of your dentures, resulting in a firm and secure feeling.

Moreover, in most upper denture cases, with Ultra Suction™, your dental practitioner may be able to reduce the size of the plastic palate, improving both phonetics and taste.

You should, however always consult your dental practitioner who is the best person to advise whether Ultra Suction™ is suitable for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Important

The following questions and answers are displayed as provided to us by Dental Practitioners. They reflect the questions commonly asked by patients. Please note that we cannot legally reply to requests for medical and dental advice or diagnostic information from the public.

Q: My dentures need relining, can Ultra Suction™ be fitted at the same time?
A: Definitely! Your Dental Practitioner will be able to take an impression of your gums and fit, for an additional fee, Ultra Suction™ at the same time as relining your dentures.

Q: How long would Ultra Suction last?
A: Ultra Suction™ valves are made of surgical stainless steel. They will last for as long as your denture.

Q: I am getting new dentures for the first time. Should I ask for Ultra Suction™ to be fitted straight away?
A: Absolutely! Various studies conducted in Europe in the early 80's have shown that wearing dentures for the first time can be as hard as learning how to swim!
Developing wrong habits in the early stages of denture wearing are the major reasons for malnutrition, resulting from not being able to chew and swallow properly. Further, there is nothing to stimulate the desire to eat when dentures are unstable. Ultra Suction™ will improve the stability of your dentures, leading to a quicker adjustment to your new dentures.

Q: Once fitted with Ultra Suction, how do I clean my dentures?
A: Use a soft brush, as you would normally to clean your dentures. Run water through the visible orifices in the suction chamber and remove any food debris on a daily basis. We recommend that you visit your Dental Practitioner every 6 months.
Your Dental Practitioner will check your gum and your denture for a proper fit, open the valves and clean the passages thoroughly.

Q: My Dentist suggested 2 Implants supporting an overdenture as the best solution for my loose lower denture, but it's very expensive. Can I use Ultra Suction instead?
A: Your Dentist is right! But if you can't afford to spend several thousands for that type of procedure, Ultra Suction™ is another option. It's a lot cheaper too!

Q: If I use Ultra Suction in my denture, will I still need my denture adhesive?
A: No! You won't need it. Denture adhesive will only clog the suction passages and make the valves ineffective.
